Reliable Excellence Since 1946

From humble beginnings to impressive growth, VECA fulfills our potential every day. Learn more below about some of our more significant company milestones.

1946

Founded in Quality, Driven by Value, Anchored by Trust

Veterans Electrical Contractor Association (VECA) was founded in 1946 by veterans. The company’s purpose was to provide meaningful jobs in the Seattle area after World War II. VECA has continued the company’s earliest legacy of finding ways to make a difference in people’s lives, including our colleagues, our clients, and our communities.

1989

Empower Full Potential

Tom Fairbanks, along with a financial partner, purchased VECA in 1989 and fostered a simple principle—create an environment that empowers people to reach their full potential, and they will create a great company. In our 35 years under Tom’s leadership, we have thrived as a place where people and projects progress forward every day.

1990

New Beginnings

  • Entered the healthcare market for the first time, and continue to thrive on these complex projects today
  • Along with the greater construction industry, recognized a greater need to turn towards safety to improve training and reduce hazardous work

1999

Home Sweet Home!

After moving offices away from our founding in Seattle, VECA returned ‘home’ and has proudly operated our Headquarters from the Georgetown neighborhood ever since.

2006

VDC Team Established

Recognizing the value of VDC/BIM technology to better coordinate projects and support onsite field crews, our full-time team was created and continues to grow, providing integrated modeling and virtual construction services.

2006

Bellingham Office Established

Having an office in Bellingham extended our ability to serve clients in northern Washington, and it continues to grow today.

2007

Mission Critical Landscape

By formally establishing a presence in central Washington, we committed to the growing need of skilled electrical services for the growing mission critical market.

2010

A Year of Firsts

  • Started Washington’s First EC/CM Delivery Project – UW Mercer Court
  • First large-scale out-of-state project, a chip plant in Arizona for an existing client

2010

Fabrication Sets Up Shop

By committing to in-house fabrication, our projects have benefitted in many ways from reduced waste and congestion onsite, more efficient installations, and better schedule control.

2017

Customized Apps for Increased Efficiency

Our in-house app development team was formed to help our teams maximize efficiency. Instead of relying on third-party apps and workarounds, we create exactly what is needed in streamlined interfaces to track manpower, tools and equipment ordering, and deliveries to name a few.

2018

Panel and Automation Group Formed

The UL Panel shop was created to offer clients reliable, in-house UL listed panel design, assembly, and installation. The group has added UL listed switchboard capabilities as well.

2021

Boise Office Established

VECA’s newest office opened, expanding our ability to serve clients in Idaho.

On the Horizon

VECA continues our vision of smart and measured growth, staying open to change and innovation in new technologies and methodologies, and supporting our teams with the right resources that enable them to do the best we possibly can for our company and our clients.
