Timeless, High-Performing Facility for Legislative Modernization
Since 1934, the Irving R. Newhouse building had been an integral part of the Capitol's campus, however due to significant health and safety hazards within the aging structure it was selected for demolition and replacement.

The new four-story, 65,000 SF building is a high-performing and energy-efficient facility providing space for Senate member offices, support functions, and caucus; Senate administration; Legislative Ethics; the joint legislative page school; and Senate security and legislative support services. Built as part of the Legislative Campus Modernization (LCM) project in Olympia, the Newhouse Building Replacement project meets net-zero-ready energy standards, with an energy use intensity of no greater than 35.

The electrical scope of work for the project includes power and replacement of aging 12.5kv infrastructure, lighting featuring controls to meet LEED specifications and Washington state energy codes, fire alarm, communications encompassing new fiber interconnection with existing campus buildings and security, CCTV and solar install. VECA Technologies scope consisted of CAT6A, RG-6 coax, multiple IDF buildouts, and both intra-building and inter-building fiber/copper backbone
