Complex Renovation within Active, Secure Port of Entry Facility
Straddling the northbound lanes of I-5 heading into Canada, this facility serves operations for the United States Customs and Border Patrol Department
While fully operational and under extensive security measures, all electrical systems, data, and multiple layers of security, such as video, license plate scanners and radiation detection, were maintained in full working order and traffic flow through the port never faltered. The project consisted of a new 35,000 SF port building and 89,000 SF vehicle inspection facility. The renovated Peace Arch has 10 primary inspection lanes, and secondary inspection booths can process 54 vehicles at a time, which is double its previous capacity. Features included a sophisticated LED lighting control system with dimming ballasts and motion sensors and the project achieved LEED Silver certification.
